So after a somewhat uneventful Tuesday night, I jumped on the bus with Mike and we headed to Puerto Viejo. The 4 hour bus ride left my stomach a little woozy, though I’m told it was one of the nicer journeys I’ll take while I’m here. After arriving we walked across town to Rockin’ J’s, a surfer hostel right by the water. Cost me a huge $5 for a hammock. Lovin’ it currently. I spent the day meeting random people, strolling the beach, and drinking a bit too much Imperial. We went to a big reggae party last night in the downtown area which was pretty cool, and I got to talk about college football recruiting with a guy from University of Michigan. Many of you know that’s quite important to me.
This morning saw me up at 7:30 to go watch surfing. My rented lens is long, but not that long – they’re way, way out there riding huge waves. I was thinking about trying to get a boat to go out and shoot from there, but I’m not sure if I’ll do that or not. The big surf break, Salsa Brava, is pretty dangerous for surfers – there’s a huge coral reef that’s quite sharp. Sometimes you see guys wearing not only reef booties, but also helmets. Guess this isn’t the place for me to learn. Today I’m gonna do some beach walking. Probably check out Playa Cocoa just a 15 minute walk from where I’m staying. It’s supposed to be white and sandy and awesome.
After this, I think I’m going to Boca del Toros, in Panama. But perhaps I’ll chill here at the beach for a few days. As always, more photos here.

oh man….that reminded me of how bad the bus rides are there. I got really sick taking a long bus ride to Playa Jaco.
